When you step into the pages of the story you will find Abigail welcoming visitors and encouraging friends, old and new, at her Blue Heron Gift Shoppe. Follow along as she and her friends socialize and encourage one another over refreshments at the Seafarer Cafe’, Dock to Galley Diner or the Crab Shack Restaurant. Keep alert, you might see Abigail and her gal friends trotting along any of the boardwalks or lounging on one of the beaches on the island of Blue Heron Cove. Any of the spunky women could be just beyond the next row of cattails or pampas grass. Pause awhile and let Abigail introduce you to her gracious group of friends and neighbors.

Pap Wayne The Olde Fishing Village at Blue Heron Cove by Abigail Sands
Pap Wayne, age 70+, is the patriarch and co-owner of the fictional Blue Heron Cove Island and The Olde Fishing Village, with his wife of many years, Abigail. Early of a morning, you can eavesdrop on Pap Wayne and his old buddies at the Seafarer Cafe’; they won’t mind a bit. You’ll have to listen carefully if you want to comprehend their lingo, however. Later, stop by his hang out, The Wood Shed. Make certain to read what he has posted under The Wood Shed sign. Sit down on the old wooden bench, rest your feet on a chunk of wood and stay awhile. Within a few minutes you can expect a story to come forth like a lazy river moving at an unhurried pace. Don’t be in a hurry or you might miss out on a hidden treasure.

Annie The Olde Fishing Village at Blue Heron Cove by Abigail Sands
Loving, kind, cheerful, hardworking – meet Annie. The vibrant optimist can be counted on to give a word of encouragement and a helping hand. Annie always has a sparkling smile as she uses her gift of hospitality to serve clients at The Mooring House Inn which she co-owns and co-operates with her sister, Kate. Her green thumb coaxes a bounty, which is served at the local restaurants, from her huge vegetable garden. A mature Christian woman, Annie speaks from her personal relationship with Jesus and a personal knowledge of the heart of God when she counsels and encourages women whom the Lord sends across her path. You’re welcome to join the tiny spitfire on her morning jaunt along the pathways of the island, but beware, if you’re not physically fit, you may be viewing the back of her bouncing, strawberry blond curls from a distance. Her sneakers get a thorough workout from this energetic grandma. In the mornings you may see Kate filling her many humming bird feeders and maintaining the beauty of the inn, however, throughout the afternoon you might see her carrying food to her neighbors or giving someone a helping hand in any number of ways. As capable on deck as she is on land, you may even catch sight of Kate boating with her husband, Ben. Kate quietly lives out her faith by pouring out her love through serving neighbors and visitors alike, with an extremely kind, loving and generous heart. 1. I enjoyed reading about your characters. Did I miss Sarah somewhere in there. I reread, but am easy to miss things.
You make me want to be there to visit and/or just sit with them… and as you said, ” eavesdrop on Pap Wayne and his old buddies at the Seafarer Cafe’; they won’t mind a bit. [I’ll] have to listen carefully… to comprehend their lingo, however.” And I would make sure to see what Pap has ” posted under The Wood Shed sign.” I would so want to “Sit down on the old wooden bench, rest [my] feet on a chunk of wood and stay awhile.” Waiting for that “story to come forth like a lazy river moving at an unhurried pace.” You’re right. I wouldn’t want to leave. 😉 And yet I’ve never been there.
How beautiful you write! ❤ I agree that you have "One Lovely Blog!" God loves you!

    • Thank you so much!! As you discovered, I don’t have all of the characters listed on the Meet the Characters page as the ‘collection’ of characters in ‘The Olde Fishing Village’ story keeps growing. I’m praying that I’ll be able to capture all of the story in print over the next few months. Getting it out of my imagination and into print is at times agonizing but also a labor of love. Thank you so much for visiting my site! Blessings!

  2. wow, the list of characters of Blue Heron Cove is a great and an amazing movement that just happened to me. I am loving it so much as if I really want to pack up and go to live at this imaginative island and make it real. Sometimes in life we meet people who brings to us a view of how life is in the imaginative world. And the views is like a window that when you open it every morning, you catch a glimpse of all the pastures of life, the trees, the grasses, the animals, the farmers, the children playing, and your story have captured my heart and I wish I was living this life right now. It brought me back many days when I was growing up on the islands, everything were beautiful, real, with no technologies. I remember mother washing the clothes in the river and I played on the river bank with other kids and these pastures have disappeared. And your story brought back those days as if I want to cry. there is a lot to life that we have either forgotten about it or we have let it slipped away without thinking that one day we may need it, but it won’t be around. Village life is full of health, purity, understanding and we powerfully believed in the most high. But all this seems to have vanished. And I appreciate it so much how you brought this back to us only at “Blue Heron Cove.” Thank you so much for that and I am glad I met you and I want to continue my journey following you. That is why I wrote “RECALLING THE PASSAGE OF TIME” https://mycountryepoque.com/2017/10/06/recalling-the-passage-of-time/

May your evening be peaceful and your weekend be a blessed one. Take care of everyone at the Cove! Sweet evening to you!

    • Thank you! The story and life of/in Blue Heron Cove is a combination of my childhood memories at our relative’s cabin by the Bay and later our family cottage by the water elsewhere as well our life decades ago in a fishing village. Like your memories, mine were of sweet times. To me, those places were heaven on earth. Unfortunately those places changed for ‘progress’. You might enjoy my little ebook nouvella ‘Longing for My Heart’s Desire’ by Abigail Sands on Amazon. It’s all about vacations at the one family cottage. There’s a little ‘secret’ at the end of the story. I had sincerely hoped that these books would touch someone else’s heart. The current book is full length and a little over halfway complete. Like you, my heart aches for the formerly beautiful, unspoiled locales. I look forward to reading your post ‘Recalling the Passage of Time.’ I’m glad we’ve met too through our blogs. I am so glad that you’ve enjoyed what I’ve shared so far. God bless you! Have a blessed weekend!

  3. Your book reminds me of a place I lived many years. It also was replete with great characters, charming settings and many memories. I also know these are all fine, but with Christ in our hearts first, they take on another dimension when you know He made all things. They are more special, which is how your book sounds! Can’t wait to read it.
